Halloween in Phoenix

Ah! Another beautiful day in the southwest. So the first thing you learn in the southwest about Halloween is that pumpkins rot quickly. This heat and sunny 80's is not good for a carved pumpkin. You learn to adjust and carve you pumpkin the day before or in this case on Halloween.We thought this would be a fun activity to do on Sunday as a family. It turned into 4 hours of entertainment for some of our kids and not so much fun for the rest.

Our kids did most of the work. Travis helped cut the tops off, but Princess and RHM went to town. Agent J decided he didn't want a pumpkin this year. And Sweetie's pumpkin was a knock off of my fun Cousin Shanda's blog located HERE. Thanks for the great idea Shanda! LOVED IT. We decided not to trick or treat this year on Sunday, but we love to pass out candy to the neighbors. Plus - I don't want my house to get egged for not passing out candy! Not that I ever did that as a child. Not me. Never.

Trunk or Treat

We had a chili cook off and it was YUM! Hot dogs for the kids, chips, and CORNBREAD!
It was crowded with lots of smaller events going on in the building and even some blow up houses outside.

Halloween is Sunday this year, so this Trunk or Treat was our party for the year. So fun and the kids had a blast.

This Saturday was also full of flag-football games for the boys. They both did great and it was fun to watch them. Agent J is a confident quarterback and quite the leader. RHM returned a kick off and ran with that ball. SO FUN to be a MOM!

We still have a lot of work to do. Ugh. I just wish we would have finished before their move this weekend. Anita, Laura and myself did our best. A few friends volunteered to join in, but Laura was done. We worked on this Wednesday and Thursday. By Friday she needed to pack up the old house so she can move.

So the orange/ peach color is leaving. SAY BYE BYE Dreamsicle ice-cream color and hello tan, red, and squash. It will be good, but right now they are moving in this weekend with it looking like this. Partial projects drive me INSANE. I wished I could have helped more, but I am sure we will finish it next week. The Nicholls will be missed. They are only 40 minutes away, but I have had too many friends move and I know that things change.

Laura has been my secret project friend. She is amazing and I know she is the person I call when I want to get something done right away.

I only wish I could have helped her get the kitchen/living room done faster. Next week, for sure.

We just had to look up RHM's preschool Halloween party with Miss Debi (who is not a Miss, but a Mrs.). Check his party in 2007 HERE. Watching RHM's year of preschool over again makes me realize how time FLYS! Hug those babies a little longer, while they will let you!

PreSchool Co-op - my turn to teach

My Sweetie is in a co-op preschool on Mondays and Wednesdays. CUTE KIDS! One was missing this day, but we love them all. This is pictures from LAST WEEK and our very special project.
So LAST WEEK was kind of crazy with the bomb threat at the school and life just busy busy, but we are the NUT house so we survived! On Monday and Wednesday I hosted the preschool group. We made HAIRY caterpillars. The link for the project is HERE. I should explain that the project ended with the HOPE of hairy caterpillars, but they left my house with 5 brown mounds of dirt in a knee high stocking.My children thought there were potatoes in the there, but other siblings thought other things. Let you imagination wander into the land of potty humor. Oh well, it was fun to watch the kids count and measure their hairy caterpillars.

Look at our project a week later. COOL!

We were talking about the letters "I" and "J" last week, so here is a video of them JUMPING! It will probably be interesting to the mothers of these cute kids. SO FUN! They were very good about taking turns on the indoor hopscotch. It was a rainy day last week, hence the dirt and jumping indoors.
