During Construction:

Before, but after I ripped off the mirror - IT WAS AWESOME!
After (with temporary mirror):

The mirror in the picture is just one I had in the house. I really want one like one of these, or even a square one.

This is a different angle on the teaser shot on June 25th. I found this flower thingy at Pier 1 on my birthday. I like it.
Now I just need to paint the cabinets black and add silver handles. That would look nice. Too bad my project isn't quite done. The cabinets might have to wait till after the Trek next week!!!!

Wall-E

I took the kids to go see Wall-E on Friday. Loved it. Here is the but. But it did have a political message. Several actually. I will only talk about one. So I don't think this is ruining the movie for you, but the reason why Wall-E is on earth is to clean up the trash. In fact there is so much trash that all the people of earth went on a 5 year space cruise that lasted over 700 years. The people all got fat, but that is the other message that I will not go into.

Any who...back to the trash. So Friday was opening day for Wall-E and every kid that went to the movie that day got this...

That is 4 collector cards, a rubber band watch, and the wrapping that those items came in. TRASH! Interesting...I think marketing needs to get on board with the message or Pixar/Disney needs to stay out of the political arena. Just my opinion. I will say that RHM loved his trash, I mean watch and 4 collector cards. He even asked if he could keep them forever. (I give it 4 days, a week tops.)

One more thing about Wall-E. I really did enjoy the movie, even with all of the messages. It was great. It will be one that we add to our library. One of the main reasons I HAVE TO BUY IT is that 2 songs from "Hello, Dolly!" were in the movie (over and over). Sunday Clothes and It only Takes a Moment. The movie even opened with Sunday Clothes. The first thing I heard was "OUT THERE, ..." I immediately moaned. "Hello, Dolly!" is following me everywhere I go. The kids finally stopped singing it throughout the day. Now, thanks to Wall-E, "Hello, Dolly!" is back in my house! (It is not good, it is not bad, it is just very, very old.)

Thanks, Wall-E!

Busy Thursday - but what day isn't busy

I really need to come up with a better word for my life besides, BUSY. Any suggestions?
Any who - today I ...
  1. went hiking (my friend brought her teenage daughter, so I had to go fast just to prove myself - I am very competitive!!) **wrong daughter in picture but you get the idea

  2. took the kids to swim team practice - did pack meeting awards while there

  3. came home - made some calls, put baby down for nap

  4. went to a friend's house and worked with wet concrete in 100* heat (but it's a dry heat - bah humbug! It is still HOT!)

  5. came home got ready to go Visiting Teaching

  6. Visited 2 sisters in my ward - swam at one house with my kids in tow.

  7. Went to Scout Store - bought the rest of the awards for pack meeting (countdown to pack meeting at this point in the day - 2.5 hours)

  8. drop off boys at Travis' work - he takes them to swim meet

  9. go to pack meeting - Milt (from East Mesa Order of the Arrow) did the ceremonies

  10. run to swim meet - I missed every race, but hugged my boys anyway.
That is my top 10 of Thursday. What do you think? Did I have a relaxing day? Maybe not, but I had a fun day! Guess what I am doing tomorrow? hint - I need to finish that project I started yesterday.

What I want you to know about me today...

Today is my birthday.
I did the best thing today, ever. I broke a mirror. 7 years bad luck - I know, I know, but I don't really believe in that stuff. Let me explain. I started remodeling the bathroom today (I say this sheepishly, because I wanted to get it DONE today - but this project will take a little more time).
Here is a sneak peak and all you will see till I get done. The theme for the bathroom is black and white! Enjoy the tease.

I did have a great birthday trying to remodel this bathroom. It was awesome and a girl power moment. I ripped out the base boards. I cut new baseboards and now I need to put them it. I have a little more painting left and the perfect mirror to find to replace the one I took down and broke. (It might take me 7 years and that is the bad luck.)

My birthday was great. I also had time to go out to lunch with my hiking buddy. Travis took the family out to dinner. He also made me my favorite cake - yellow cake with chocolate frosting! YUMMY! I loved all of my ecards, flowers, and gifts. I was spoiled and I know it. I know I have GREAT friends and even better family.
THANK-YOU!

Migraine III

It starts like this with light being the trigger...
Then my head starts to hurt...
Then I see blurry...
Then the migraine part kicks in and I feel yucky...
I just thought this picture was funny...

It is official I am old and I get migraines. Yep! I am one of those. You know, one of those people that put things off when they get sick or get a migraine. YES I AM ONE OF THOSE and proud of it!

I was going to remodel my downstairs bathroom today (paint, mirror, baseboards, and shower curtain), but instead I got a migraine at swim team practice. I guess I should be glad I didn't get it tomorrow. I would hate to have a migraine on my birthday.

Weekend with Sweetie

I don't know why, but most of my life seems to revolve around the baby in the family. I love my other kids just as much and when they were the baby - I focused on them, too. I seem to have more pictures of the baby on my camera, so let's go with what I have.

Bath time Saturday night...

crazy hair

Dog pile Sunday afternoon...

Sweetie has lots of shots with her eyes closed...

notice the space in between her front teeth (we will get to that later)

Another great shot with the eyes closed...

Brown eyed girl

(both of my girls have brown eyes, but look at those eye! I am melting.)

Now back to that space between her front teeth -

I had a space between my teeth when I was young and it turned out to be a blessing. I never had braces and when my adult teeth grew in the space allowed enough room for the teeth of come in perfectly straight. Here is hoping Sweetie has no braces when she grows up.

Friday clean up day

We cleaned the grout on our hands and knees after finding ants in the house that morning. I know the ants don't come from the grout, but we just wanted to clean things really, REALLY good. We now have a sweeping chart for every night after dinner. I think the ants smell the food Sweetie throws on the floor with every meal.
Anyway, the reason why we took pictures of this event was because we had fun cleaning up. We started cleaning together and then we each took turns picking a song to sing. Then we got sick (or at least I got sick) of being off key, so I asked Oldest to go get his CD player. We then sang the grout clean. We sang to Jesse McCartney, Hello Dolly!, and lots of church song. It was fun to work together and create a memory. Singing is the best! It was Princesses idea to sing while we worked. It probably helped that the TV wasn't on in the background. Quiet led to a prompting to sing.
Whistle while you work!

Surprise Swim with Dad on Thursday

Travis came home from work early on Thursday. He helped move some boxes for work from one storage unit to another in 112* heat, so his boss let him come home early after that.
He showed up and the first thing I thought was Did you lose you job?
He said Nope! But I thought about jokingly telling you that.
Oldest having fun in the pool. He needs a hair cut, but I don't want to spoil the fun, yet!
Sweetie wrapping herself in a towel. She is getting a little too brave in the pool. Isn't she cute! She shrugs her shoulders like this a lot. I love this shot.
My honey showing off his skills! We have a play pool, so the deepest part is in the middle. Our family loves to jump in and I rate them 1 - 10. This jump scored a 10.
Princess giving the camera her spin move. This jump was a 9.5
RHM (he has asked that I re-name him red headed monkey instead of red headed monster) doing a flip into the pool. He flips quite gracefully and he taught his siblings how to do it. This flip was a 6.7 - he can do it better.
